This Month’s Theme

Mecha

Mecha is one of the most iconic and enduring elements in Japanese anime and manga. From classic robot series to futuristic sci-fi adventures, mechanical characters have captured the imagination of fans around the world. Mecha designs come in many forms—small combat units, adorable animal-shaped machines, humanoid battle suits, or massive giant robots towering over cities. They can be sleek and realistic, heavily armored and industrial, or imaginative and fantastical. Mecha are not just machines, but extensions of personality, technology, and storytelling. For this month’s challenge, we invite you to design and draw your own original mecha inspired by Japanese anime and manga culture. It can be a compact tactical unit, a cute animal-type mech, a powerful humanoid machine, or a colossal giant robot. Think about its function, personality, weapons, or even its pilot. The setting can be futuristic, post-apocalyptic, military, peaceful, or completely experimental. There are no restrictions on pose, background, or atmosphere—use your imagination freely and express your vision of “Mecha” through your art. Create an original illustration and bring your unique mechanical concept to life.
